Adalierd. At studio in Vienna. 2020
Journey.
Over a decade, I've learnt that each painting, despite a clear starting point or idea, will always strive to develop its own identity, Who am I to deny its internal destiny?. I embrace the painting's internal destiny, believing in the significance of the physical act of creation, my own way of seeing, and my taste.
I appreciate that what is genuinely extraordinary is the freedom that the act of painting represents, and not the quality of the result for others' eyes.
My ongoing creations with painting delve into the unknown, generating duels between my conscious states. I dedicate myself to unveiling the beauty of the unknown for my own exploration.
Speed is crucial; it preserves freshness. I don't deliberate; I observe, feel, and let the painting guide its own path. I do not paint beauty, order, or logic within our time dimension. I aim to create simple, impactful images that invite to traverse the bridges between imagination.
Each of my paintings represents one of those explorations that freeze when I decide to stop. It becomes a persistence window to observe.

Adalierd. (Adá)
Born in Venezuela in 1978, Adalierd currently lives and works in Porto, Portugal.
At the age of 20, he arrived in Europe and settled in Marbella, Spain. Eventually, he moved to Barcelona where he worked as an Art & Creative Director for more than a decade. In his Barcelona atelier, he spent years studying, experimenting with painting, and producing art and photography.
During this period, Adalierd transitioned from capturing the realism of his photography to delving into total abstraction. After presenting the results of the final stages of his photographic abstraction in Manhattan, NYC, he decided to retire the camera and focus solely on painting.
Adalierd then spent half a decade in Vienna, Austria, where he moved his studio. During this time, he dedicated himself entirely to painting and developed several new concepts, resulting in more visceral and intense works until reaching saturation.
After three years without a single brushstroke, he decided to reopen his atelier, this time facing the Atlantic coast in the north of Portugal.
Now, another period is beginning.
